Über Jana
Hello you!!
My name is Jana. I am a master student at ETHZ and I am about to finish my master's degree in Electrical Engineering the following semester.
For me, tutoring is something that became a side-job but originated from passion. During my highschool years, I would tutor younger students and prepare them from school entrance exams that mostly dealt with mathematics, physics and chemistry. I found it to be an extremely rewarding job, especially when my students got into schools they wanted. Hence, I decided to keep this up during my bachelor's degree years.
In the bachelor, I used to work as a teaching assistant for my university ( which is just a fancy way of saying I worked as a tutor :) ). Here, I prepared students for university level exams in basic engineering math prinicples and helped make and grade exams.
Now how does English blend into all of this? even though I am orginally Croatian, English is like a native language to me. My mother insisted I learn early as she is an English teacher. This propelled me to take endless grammar lessons, read endless amounts of books and, eventually, to pursue education in English as well. As someone who speaks a lot of languages, I have additionally developed this skill of finding the most unlikely connections between seemingly unrelated languages which gives me a huge advantage in explaining and memorization or grammar structures. I hope to introduce this way of understanding language to my future students as well :).

My teaching technique:
0. The zeroth step of our interaction is a chat about what you are studying and why. I want to find out what your objectives are and in how much time you would like to achieve them.
1. I asses the situation and make the lesson plan.
2. Every week I prepare the theory of what it is you're studying. I explain the topic by using self-made examples or useful animations I extract from my sources.
3. Next, I inspect the student's understanding of the new topic and solve exercises wiht them (homeworkd or exercises prepared by me)
