Über Holly
I am an Australian jazz saxophonist currently completing my Master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the Jazzcampus in Basel. Alongside my studies, I perform regularly and am engaged in the jazz scenes both here and Basel and back home. My experience includes formal conservatory training, professional performance, and international study, all of which inform my approach to teaching.
I am passionate about helping students to not only improve technically, but also develop confidence, creativity, and their own artistic voice. I believe jazz and improvisation should be taught in a way that is both structured and inspiring.
As both an instrumentalist and creative artist, I understand the challenges students face at different stages of development. Whether you are just starting out or refining advanced concepts, I aim to provide clear guidance, honest feedback, and a supportive environment that encourages long-term musical growth.
All lessons are taught in native English.

I teach all lessons in native English and work with students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players preparing for auditions or further study.
My teaching focuses on developing strong fundamentals alongside creativity and musical independence. In our lessons we work on tone production, technique, time feel, phrasing, repertoire, and improvisation. I place particular emphasis on helping students to learn the music they like to listen to, whilst also introducing them to new sounds!
A typical lesson includes warm-ups, technical exercises tailored to your level, repertoire work, and guided improvisation practice. I adapt each lesson to the individual student’s goals, whether that is building confidence, preparing for performances, or deepening jazz vocabulary.
As a Master’s-level jazz musician and active performer, I combine practical performance experience with structured, clear guidance. My aim is to create a supportive but focused environment where students feel challenged, inspired, and motivated to grow.
