Über Lorna
I’m a native British English speaker with strong personal ties to Germany, having grown up bilingually and spent much of my childhood there. I also hold a B2 German qualification, completed for formal qualification purposes, so I am very comfortable supporting German-speaking students and explaining differences between the two languages when helpful.
I hold two UK degrees: one in Business Management and one in Paramedic Science. This gives me a broad academic and professional background, from business and professional communication to healthcare and medical terminology.
My approach is friendly, patient and encouraging, while still keeping lessons focused and productive. I enjoy helping people build confidence in their English and adapting lessons to suit individual goals, whether that is conversation, pronunciation, grammar, school support, professional communication or simply feeling more natural when speaking.
Because of my paramedic background, I can also offer Medical English for healthcare students and professionals, including clinical vocabulary, patient communication and professional healthcare conversations.
My aim is to make English feel practical, approachable and genuinely useful, rather than simply something learned from a textbook.

My lessons are relaxed, practical and tailored to each student’s individual goals. As a native British English speaker, and growing up bilingual in German, I can explain concepts clearly in English while also using German where helpful.
I focus strongly on building confidence and helping students use English naturally in real-life situations. Depending on your needs, lessons can include conversation practice, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, schoolwork, exam preparation or professional English.
A typical lesson usually starts with a short conversation or review of previous material, followed by focused work on the areas you want to improve. I like to use realistic examples, discussion, exercises and practical scenarios rather than relying only on textbooks.
I am happy to teach teenagers and adults at different levels, from those who need support with school English to people who simply want to become more confident speaking English for work, travel or everyday life.
I also have a healthcare and paramedic background, so I can offer more specialised Medical English for healthcare students and professionals, including medical vocabulary, patient communication, history taking and clinical conversations.
Most importantly, I want lessons to feel supportive and enjoyable. Mistakes are a normal part of learning, and my aim is to help you become more confident, fluent and comfortable using English.
