Über Ailbhe
Hi, I'm Ailbhe (pronounced Alva) and come originally from Dublin, Ireland.
I've been playing and teaching music for over 15 years, to both children and adults in a variety of genres- classical, pop, rock, folk.
I've studied all aspects of music in a variety of institutions. I earned a B.A. in Music from University College Dublin, as well as completing my Trinity Guildhall London Grade 8 Guitar, and Grade 7 Double Bass at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
I have extensive performance experience- in orchestras, bands, studio sessions, theatre productions, at festivals, concert halls, music clubs...the list goes on!

I like to tailor my lessons to the individual student and create a relaxed and fun atmosphere- whether it's working towards a graded exam or learning the chords of your favourite song.
Technique and method depend on the playing style- if you're learning classical guitar then we'll focus on playing positions, finger exercises, sight-reading and music theory.
If you go for a more acoustic approach then we'll be talking chord shapes, reading TAB and strumming patterns.
Or you mix & match! There's no one way to learn an instrument, different aspects resonate with different students.
I'm extremely patient, and am happy to take our lessons in any direction you like. Once you're happy to keep picking up your instrument on a regular basis, then I've done my job right.
