Über Toreah
I’m mostly self-trained with professional training from internationally renowned painters on the west coast of the States, where I come from. I am a native English-speaker and am glad to offer classes in English (2 in 1: Art & English!), but I am also C1-fluent level in German. Overall I have spent the last three years in international travel, gaining cultural and artistic experience in western as well as eastern nations! This has greatly influenced how I view the significant role of the Arts as a form of communication. It is an international language that requires no verbal communication -- having the role of an artist is extremely valuable and significant!
Since I can remember I have been drawing -- always a pencil or pen close at hand! Soon after I began teaching myself in the area of acrylic and watercolor paints. I specialize in realistic representative art in drawing (pencil, pen, charcoal, color pencil/pastel) and both watercolor and acrylic paints. I have a thorough understanding and natural feel with color theory and composition, especially when it comes to nailing down the basic principles of art and design that make an excellent drawer and painter!
Through my last few years of teaching overseas with many different cultures, I have developed a deep passion for teaching and walking with students through the process of learning and developing their skills. I can’t wait to see how the learning roads looks ahead of us!

I like to start the lessons with a bit of time to get to know one another -- I value you as a student and artist and I truly love to see your growth in every area as we walk along.
The first hour is a free session to get to know one another, discover what level you are currently at, and establish what your goals are, whether they are professional, hobby-oriented, or anywhere in between. These private lessons are specifically tailored to benefit you personally as the student.
As for methods, I believe that a strong understanding of the foundational elements and principles of art and design is essential in moving forward and effectively building on your artistic abilities. There is no reason to build skills that must be unlearned! This is like learning a language; it takes time, practice, and patience. But each time you come back you will undoubtedly see improvement and growth. We will go through each level of understanding, observation, and practice together as your artistic ‘fluency’ grows.
Alongside a systematic approach to learning, I will also bring insight and teaching into the methods which I like to refer to as ‘off-the-clock’ learning methods. These are simple exercises I regularly practice that I will share with you which contribute to the development of your visualizing capabilities as an artist. This is something very practical however that distinguishes your art from others and will produce a very natural feel and understanding of “true-ness” to your art!
