Über Hera
I am a Korean artist in my mid-twenties based in Vienna. I specialised in Korean traditional painting at high school level, giving me a strong classical foundation in brush technique and ink work from an early age. I then spent a year studying art in London before moving to Vienna, where I am currently enrolled at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte).

I offer Korean traditional painting (Hangukhwa) and drawing lessons in Vienna, open to students of all ages and levels — from complete beginners to those ready to develop their own artistic voice.
Korean traditional painting is one of the most captivating and meditative art forms in the world, yet it remains rare and largely undiscovered in Europe. Working with korean specific ink, brush, and paper, you will find that each stroke carries intention and feeling in a way that Western drawing traditions rarely capture. The materials are simple, but the expressive range is extraordinary — from the quiet beauty of traditional ink landscapes and nature studies, to still life, to portraiture. There is always something new to discover within this centuries-old tradition.
A modern approach to a traditional art form:
As a student at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Angewandte), I bring both deep roots in Korean artistic tradition and a contemporary artistic perspective. Lessons are not about copying templates — they are about helping you develop your own creative vision using these techniques as a foundation. You will learn brush control, ink handling, composition, and the distinct visual language of East Asian art, while being encouraged to make the work truly your own.
How lessons are structured:
Each session begins with a short technique focus and demonstration, followed by hands-on practice with close guidance. We finish by reflecting on what you created and setting a direction for next time. Over time, lessons naturally evolve — moving from foundational skills toward building a personal body of work you are genuinely proud of.
Who is this for?
Everyone is welcome — children, adults, hobbyists, and anyone curious about Korean culture or East Asian art. No experience needed. Whether you want to try something completely new, find a mindful creative practice, or seriously develop your skills, these lessons can be shaped around your goals.
All lessons are held in person in Vienna, on a regular weekly or biweekly basis, and are conducted in English.
