Über Kirill
Hello, I’m Kirill, a Berlin-based English teacher with experience teaching children, teenagers, and adults, both privately and at university level.
I hold a master’s degree in Linguistics with distinction and an MSc in Cognitive Science from the University of Osnabrück. My English proficiency is certified at C2 level by the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English. I have also undertaken three years of doctoral research in philosophy and situated cognition, focusing on language, embodiment, and understanding.
My teaching experience includes private English lessons for learners from age six to adulthood, teaching linguistics at Herzen University, and developing and teaching a course in language at Osnabrück. I have also co-taught university philosophy seminars.
What I particularly enjoy about teaching is helping someone find the words for what they want to say—and seeing a difficult idea become understandable. I bring intellectual curiosity, patience, and careful preparation to my lessons, whether we are practising everyday English or discussing an academic presentation.
I am a native Russian speaker and am currently learning German myself, so I appreciate the effort and courage involved in communicating in another language. My aim is to help you feel comfortable asking questions, develop your abilities, and recognise your progress.

My lessons are tailored to your age, level, interests, and goals. I teach children, teenagers, and adults, combining clear explanations with practical activities and plenty of opportunities to speak.
We begin by discussing what you want to achieve and identifying what you find difficult. A typical lesson includes a short warm-up, focused work on a skill or language point, and guided practice. We finish by reviewing what you have learned and agreeing on useful practice between lessons.
For children, I use stories, games, pictures, and structured activities to make English engaging and accessible. With teenagers and adults, we can work on everyday conversation, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and writing.
I also offer academic English and presentation practice: explaining complex ideas, organising a talk, participating in discussions, and answering questions confidently. For learners who enjoy philosophy, psychology, literature, or culture, we can use short readings as starting points for meaningful conversation.
My background in linguistics, cognitive science, and university teaching informs my approach. I aim to make difficult points understandable and create a patient, encouraging atmosphere where you feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Lessons take place online or in Berlin, primarily in English. Explanations in Russian are also available.
