Über Peter
A native of Michigan, Peter Pearson began his musical studies at the age of 8. On a field trip to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, he heard the cello for the first time. From that moment he knew that he wanted to play the cello. Peter had the privilege to study with Marcy Chanteaux, the assistant principal cellist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for many years before he moved to San Francisco to continue his education. He received his Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Cello Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of music studying with Jennifer Culp, former cellist of the respected Kronos Quartet. Upon graduation, Peter moved to New York City where he performed for three Broadway shows, including ‘War Paint’ with Patti LuPone, ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Clay Aiken & Ruben Studdard’s Christmas Show’, as well as Off-Broadway’s ‘In The Green’ at Lincoln Center, which features Peter’s playing on the original cast recording.
Peter has performed extensively across China, Australia, Europe, and the United States. Recently, Peter has collaborated, recorded and toured with recording artists Haux, Henry Jamison and Rosie Carney for their European and North American tours and is featured on their recent albums. As an active orchestral musician, Peter has performed under conductors Sir Simon Rattle and Neeme Järvi. Peter currently lives in Hamburg, Germany, after completing a music fellowship programme with the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, where he collaborated with other artists, conductors, and academics to innovate the orchestral experience in Germany, China and the United States.
In his free time, Peter loves to walk with his dog Tripp, ride horses and learn German.

I believe that music is an indispensable part of life, and is something everyone should experience. Exploring the world of music through the cello has been one of the greatest gifts that has been given to me.
I find teaching to be one of the most fulfilling aspects of being a musician. Life is a continuous journey and we are always learning. To be a part of that process is a beautiful experience. I love finding new ways to transfer ideas to students, and witnessing that moment when things start to come together.
When teaching, I often find myself not only teaching music but also teaching students about themselves. How they can free themselves to reach artistic and technical freedom with their instrument.
I offer lessons to students at all skill levels and I am excited to join you on your musical journey!
