Über Mohsen
I am a composer and Santur player with a background in both performance and contemporary music composition. I studied Santur in Iran with several respected teachers and virtuosos, including Ardavan Kamkar, and had the opportunity to attend masterclasses with Siamak Aghaei.
Alongside my performance practice, I studied music composition in Linz at the Anton Bruckner University and am currently continuing my studies in composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW).
As a composer, I have participated in various music festivals, including 4020 Linz and the Ars Electronica Festival.

In this class, you will learn to play the Santur while discovering the depth and rich traditions of Persian music. Alongside practical instruction on the instrument, we will explore the fundamentals of Persian music theory and aesthetics, providing a solid foundation for both beginners and more advanced students.
Together, we will uncover the unique qualities of the Santur, including its distinctive sound, playing techniques, and expressive possibilities. My goal is to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where you can develop your musical skills, deepen your understanding of Persian musical traditions, and enjoy the rewarding journey of learning this remarkable instrument.
