Über Johanna
"I am a citizen of the world" — as Socrates already used to say — and I can strongly relate to it. I love to travel and meet new people from all over the world. My passion for foreign cultures (especially American) and the English language was sparked many years ago. Back then, I was simply curious and eager to fully immerse myself in intercultural experiences. Over the past fifteen years, I have gained experience through working, studying, and living in the United States. Back in 2011, I worked as a nanny in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I built lasting international friendships. In 2012, when I started studying English and American Studies and History in Austria, I realised I wanted to write my diploma thesis in English as well — which I successfully did. In the past five years, I also took part in exchange programs, including the AFS Teacher Exchange Program and the Fulbright Teaching Assistant Program. After taking the TOEFL, I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to work as a German Teaching Assistant at the State University of Oklahoma. Now I am 35 years old and currently I am working at a high school and middle school back in Austria.

As an experienced English teacher with several years of teaching practice and work experience in the United States, I support students in a targeted and individualized way throughout their learning process. I believe that English should not only be learned but truly understood and actively used. In a supportive and motivating learning environment, I work in a structured way to help students build language skills, gain confidence and achieve sustainable learning success — whether for exams, assessments, or final school exams.
- Teaching methods and strategies are individually tailored to students´ needs and language level.
- interactive, engaging, varied
- For Matura preparation, particular emphasis is placed on speaking (individual long turn and dialogue) as well as writing (required text types).
- Upon request, I also offer support in preparing for the TOEFL, which is a requirement for admission to many U.S. universities.
