Über Caroline
From my experiences living 18 years in Austria, raising my three children there, while teaching English as a second language to children, I have gained a variety of experiences. I have learned how it feels to be the outsider; to be left out; the one that does not understand and confused; the one that looks and behaves differently; to be the minority; and to be treated differently because of being different. Therefore, I have complete understanding for children who do not understand the English language. Children that change schools and have to learn and assimilate in a new environment, new culture, and make new friends. I have compassion and understanding for my students, and establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment so that my students feel safe to be open and true to themselves. I create a student environment where respect for others and most importantly respect for self is emphasized. I believe that having a student that is caring, considerate, understanding, and interested in learning becomes natural to students when it first begins with the teacher. I believe that when a teacher gives their best and truly cares about their students, their students feel this and it is reciprocated.

It is my belief that a person can be taught to be anything they would like to be if they put commitment into it. From my personal perspective, commitment means for me that you love what you are doing; it is fun and interesting; and you giving your best at it, which in turn makes you successful at it. It is my goal to teach my students with this mission in mind. That I include activities in my lessons that create a love for learning. My students learn through engaging activities that make learning fun and interesting. Furthermore, I instill in my students the commitment to always do their best, so that they experience success throughout the rest of their school years and off into their careers, no matter what career path they choose, whether they are truck drivers, hairdressers, electricians, tile layer, lawyer, or doctor, they are attributes. An attribute not only to the company they work for, or the society they provide their skill in, but most importantly to the mere satisfaction and mindset of doing their best and nothing less.
