Über Jon
I am a musician from Australia and have also lived in Mexico and Europe, now I live in Vienna. I have worked and performed as a piano teacher for the past four years and have almost ten years of experience teaching in other areas. I started singing, studying music and playing instruments (piano, clarinet, saxophone) at the age of nine.
I have studied music in conservatories and music schools in New York, Melbourne and Barcelona.
2003 - Chorister and pianist in the St Thomas Choir, New York
2005 - 2011 - Member of the Big Band and Concert Band, Brighton Grammar, Melbourne
2005 - 2011 - Member of the St Andrews Choir, Melbourne
2017 - 2019 - Student under the lead pianist of the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra
2019 - Current - Freelance piano teacher

In my experience over the past few years as a piano teacher to students of all levels and ages, I have found that people learn so much more when they are able to express themselves and have a fun time from the very first lesson.
For this reason I focus on teaching piano and music through the lens of jazz, which allows for so much freedom as well as being really educational in all different styles of music. In my classes you will learn how music really works in a relevant way by studying music that you yourself enjoy listening to and would like to create, and practice dynamically using tools like backing tracks which make it feel like there is a band in the room with you!
I put a special focus on developing ear, rhythm and feel to give you confidence from the start that you can jam either by yourself or with other people.
I also produce electronic/funk/neo soul music for my solo project and as a session musician. If learning music production interests you, I can also help you with that!
I am happy to teach in my house in the 5th district or as well I can come to you.
