Über Agil
Hinweis: Der Unterricht findet auf Englisch statt. Für Kinder, die noch kein Englisch sprechen, ist mein Unterricht leider nicht geeignet.
Please note: all lessons are taught in English.
Agil Pirverdiyev, FIDE Master, based in Baku, Azerbaijan. FIDE-certified coach with fifteen years of teaching behind me and more than 100 students taught online.
Ratings: 2411 classical, 2508 rapid. Under 16 World Champion in 2011, Under 14 European Champion, team silver medal at the Chess Olympiad. FIDE arbiter title, and first places at open tournaments in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain.
I teach chess full time. That matters more than it sounds: I see the same problems across a hundred different players, which is why I can usually tell within one game which habit is holding you back.

BEFORE THE FIRST LESSON
Send me two or three recent games - a Lichess or Chess.com link works - and one sentence about what annoys you most about your own play. I study them before we meet.
THE FREE FIRST LESSON, 30 MINUTES
No introductions and no sales talk. I open your games and show you what is actually costing you points, then give you a plan: what to work on and in what order. Whether you book anything afterwards is your decision - the plan is yours either way.
INSIDE A LESSON
- One to one, online, on a shared board.
- We work from your games, or from last week's task.
- At the critical moment I stop and ask what you saw. You do the calculating; I correct the method.
- You leave with one specific task for the week, and the analysis arrives in writing afterwards.
CHILDREN, ROUGHLY 6 TO 12
Board awareness, keeping pieces safe, and converting a winning position - the three things that decide games at this age. Clear structure, a pace that suits children, and a short summary for parents after each lesson.
JUNIORS PLAYING TOURNAMENTS
An opening repertoire you can recall with the clock running. Targeted calculation work instead of random puzzles. Preparation before an event and honest analysis after it.
ADULTS WHOSE RATING IS STUCK
It stopped moving because a small set of errors keeps repeating - rushing quiet positions, no plan after the opening, weak endgame technique, panic in sharp play. We identify them and take them out one at a time. Most players are surprised how few there are.
AN HONEST NOTE
There is no thirty-hour route to mastery. Before you spend anything, I will tell you what is realistic for your level and the time you can actually give.
PRACTICAL
- Online, one to one, in English.
- First lesson free, 30 minutes.
- Packages: 5 lessons, or 10 lessons with one free - you pay for nine and we play ten.

He breaks down complex strategies in a clear and approachable way, making each lesson feel relaxed and natural—more like learning chess with a friend than sitting in a classroom.
With Agil, every lesson is a fun challenge. Coach introduces exciting variations, mini-tournaments, and quirky challenges that keep the learning process dynamic and enjoyable.
The best chess coach I’ve come across so far. In particular identifying my weakness and helping me getting better through excellent feedback.
Agil was a patient and kind tutor to my son. His lessons on chess openings, middle game and end game greatly improved my son’s chess playing. Thank you Agil!
