  • How is it that you speak this language fluently? Is it related to your background, or did a teacher once inspire your passion for it?

I've always had a deep interest in the English language-I find it exciting and full of
possibilities! That passion led me to study translation and interpreting, and later
childhood studies, because I wanted to understand not just the language but how it
connects with people, especially young learners. I also earned my TEFL Level 5
diploma to further develop my teaching skills. For the past 17 years, I've been
teaching non-stop, and I can honestly say I'm still in love with my job. Every day
brings something new, whether it's connecting with students or finding creative ways
to make learning fun and effective.
  • 2. Name a personality-whether living, historical, or fictional-who, in your opinion, best represents this culture.

I'd say George Orwell, especially through his book 1984, is a great representation of
English culture. Not because he's all about tea and biscuits, but because he showed
how language can be used to control people-definitely a bit more serious than the
average English stereotype! His sharp observations about society and his
no-nonsense writing style make him the kind of person who'd probably tell you to "get
to the point" in a conversation. Plus, 1984 is still relevant today, so he definitely left a
mark on English culture in a big way!
  • 3. Is there a word, expression, tradition, or typical behavior in the language you teach that particularly impresses or amuses you?

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" is such a great one! It's such a
hopeful and resilient expression. It's all about taking something negative or
challenging and turning it into an opportunity or something positive. The imagery of
turning sour lemons into sweet lemonade is so fitting-it's a reminder that even in
tough times, we have the ability to adapt, grow, and make the best of things.
  • 4. In your opinion, why is it so important to master this language (whether in relation to school/university, work, or for personal reasons)?

Mastering English is important because it opens up many opportunities, both
personally and professionally. For students, it's essential for accessing education,
whether that's through textbooks, research, or even participating in global
conversations. In the workplace, English is often the common language, so it's key
for career advancement. Personally, learning English allows people to connect with
different cultures, enjoy media like books and movies, and travel with more
confidence. As a teacher, I want to help my students realize that mastering English
can give them the freedom to explore new opportunities and connect with the world
    around them.
  • 5. What is the main challenge in learning this language, and why is it particularly worthwhile?

The biggest challenge in learning English is definitely its quirks-English is like that
friend who's always changing their mind! The spelling doesn't match the
pronunciation (think "through" vs. "though"), and the grammar rules often seem to
have a "just because" vibe. But honestly, that's what makes it so fun! Once you get
the hang of it, it's like cracking a secret code. And the reward? You get to speak the
language that connects you to people from all over the world, whether it's for career
opportunities, making new friends, or just enjoying a good English meme. Totally
    worth the struggle!
  • 6. Do you have a professional or school-related anecdote involving this language that you would like to share with us?

I once had a hilarious moment in school when I was learning English. I was trying to
use the phrase "pick up" and thought it meant "avoid" instead of "gather." So, when
the teacher asked me to "pick up the book," I proudly said, "I can't, I'm avoiding it!"
The class lost it! It taught me two things: phrasal verbs are tricky, and it's totally okay
to mess up and laugh-it's all part of the learning process!
  • 7. Help us get to know you a bit better by telling us about your travels and/or stays abroad (related to the language you teach or in general).

I've been fortunate enough to travel to some amazing places, including Italy, Dubai,
and the UK. I've also worked on several Greek islands with tourists, which has been
such a great experience! In each of these places, I got to see how English serves as
a bridge between different cultures, whether I was helping tourists find their way or
chatting with locals. It's always been fun to see how language connects people, and
these experiences have taught me a lot about communication, patience, and, of
course, a few funny "lost in translation" moments! Every trip reinforced how powerful
language can be in making the world feel a little smaller and more connected.
  • 8. In short: What makes you a Superprof? (In addition to being proficient in several languages...)

I like to think I'm the kind of teacher who brings both humor and heart to the
classroom. I genuinely care about my students and always make sure to connect
with them on a personal level, so I can really understand their needs and help them
grow. I believe in people's potential and always encourage them to believe in
themselves too! Plus, I absolutely love meeting people from different cultures-it's
one of the best parts of teaching English. It's not just about language; it's about
building relationships and having fun while learning!
